Dean Sheremet releases ‘Eat Your Heart Out’ cookbook

She watched the 5-year-old boy closely, making sure he didn’t get any egg shells in the batter. The boy, Dean Sheremet, was nervous and excited. His Depression-era grandmother, while loving, could be tough — but he really liked the chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing they were making.

“I tried to meticulously crack eggs perfectly to try to prove myself,” he said.

That he did: Sheremet discovered as a child that he loved cooking, and he was good at it.
